Arrival and departure

How do I get from the station to the hotel?

Hotel Seaside is located in the bay of Spiez. The distance from the train station to the Hotel Seaside is 850 m (a 7-minute walk). The local bus Spiez takes you from the train station to Hotel Seaside and back.


Where can I park?

A total of covered and uncovered parking spaces are available. Parking is subjet to charges and reservations are not possible. If all parking spaces are occupied, public parking spaces can be found about 250 m away.


Where can I park my bike?

The Swiss Bike Hotels are completely geared to the pleasure and enjoyment of two-wheeled bikes: whether by road bike, mountain bike or e-bike for a leisurely bike tour – the hosts themselves are enthusiastic cyclists. You bring your own bike with you: at Hotel Seaside there is a lockable bike/bike room with direct access.


When can I move into my room on the day of arrival?

Your hotel room is available on the day of arrival from 3 p.m. If you arrive earlier, we will gladly look after your luggage for you.


What are the opening times of the reception?

The reception is generally open daily from 7.00 a.m. to 8 p.m. and are flexible according to the needs of our guests. In addition, we can be contacted during the night via on-call telephone. If you wish to leave earlier or arrive later, please contact us.


How do I check in when the reception is closed?

In order to be flexible regarding your arrival time, you will receive a key code with your room booking. If you arrive before or after the opening hours, we will deposit your room key in the key box.


Where is the key box?

The key box is located next to Hotel Seaside's car park (where the stairs lead down from the upper deck). You can access your room key with your code including # (please press the hash key to confirm).

Important: please always take your room key with you since the outer door of Hotel Seaside locks automatically.


Until when can I use the room on the day of departure?

We ask you to vacate the room by 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.


How can I pay the hotel bill?

We accept cash payments in Swiss Francs (CHF) and Euros (daily rate). You can also pay the hotel bill using Maestro, Postcard, TWINT, Mastercard, and VISA credit cards.


Are there any fees such as visitor's tax or other local taxes?

A visitor's tax of CHF 3.50 is charged per guest (16 years and older) and night.

Hotel stay

Is smoking in the room allowed?

Smoking is not permitted in all hotel rooms and public guest areas. You are free to smoke on the terrace or balcony – your room neighbours will thank you if you keep consumption to a minimum.


Are laundry and ironing facilities freely available in the hotel?

A washing machine and a dryer are available to our guests for their own use free of charge. For instructions or information please contact room service or the reception. Laundry detergent can be purchased at the Hotel Seaside reception. An ironing room is also at your disposal.


What voltage do the sockets have?

They have a voltage of 230 volts with a frequency of 50 Hz. In Switzerland, two-pole (type C) and three-pole (type J) plugs are used. We recommend bringing a mains adapter with you. We will be happy to provide you with an adapter for a deposit at the reception desk.


Do the hotel rooms have a hair dryer?

There is a quality hair dryer in every bathroom.


Do the hotel rooms have a minibar and kettle?

There is a refrigerator on the 3rd floor of the hotel, which is available to guests. We take no responsibility for its contents. There is also a kettle on this floor as well as on the 1st and 2nd floors

Cooking and barbecues are not allowed in the rooms and the hotel's own open spaces (terrace, garden, ...).


Do you have bedding for allergy sufferers and special pillows?

If you wish to have bedding for allergy sufferers, please let us know when making your reservation or contact the reception during your stay. You can choose the perfect pillow for you on site which you can also buy to take home with you.


Can I deposit my valuables in a safe in my hotel room?

Guests are requested to deposit valuables in the safe at the reception. This service is available free of charge. In any case, liability is limited to a maximum of CHF 5000. The guest's claims expire if he does not report the damage immediately after it is first detected.

We assume no liability for valuables in the room.


Is there an internet connection?

Wi-Fi is available free of charge throughout the house. You can obtain the password at the reception. Guest computers and printers are available on request.


Do the hotel rooms have air conditioning?

All hotel rooms are equipped with quiet ventilators which circulate the air and thus ensure a pleasant room climate.


When is breakfast served and for how long?

For an enjoyable start to the day: a rich breakfast buffet is at your disposal from Monday to Friday from 7 to 10 a.m., Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, and long weekends from 8 to 10 a.m. If you would like to have breakfast earlier or later, please arrange this at the reception.


Early risers

Are you going on a hike and aiming to go up high? Or do you just have to get out early? We are happy to prepare a breakfast for early risers in the early hours of the morning: Important: advance reservation the previous evening at the reception.


May my dog accompany me during my stay?

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Hotel Seaside. Please let us know at the time of booking that you are travelling with your dog. Our fee is CHF 25.00 per dog and night. Animals are not allowed in the restaurant.


Is Hotel Seaside wheelchair accessible?

Hotel Seaside is completely accessible and every floor can be reached by lift. There are also four hotel rooms which are wheelchair accessible, one of which has a specially equipped bathroom (walk-in shower, handrails).


Are there family rooms or a room category suitable for families?

There are no family rooms. However, children and young people can stay in their parents' room. Children up to 4 years of age stay free of charge in a cot and extra bed in their parents' room. A total of four rooms with a connecting door are available.


Is breakfast included in the room price?

When you make your reservation, you choose whether you book your stay with or without breakfast. You also have the possibility to book breakfast directly on site.

What are the benefits of booking directly at the hotel?

Guests who book directly through the hotel benefit from the following advantages:

Which room category do I have to book to have a closed bathroom during my stay?

About half of our hotel rooms are designed with an open room concept, i.e. the bathroom is en suite. If you would like more privacy, please state that you would like a closed bathroom when making your reservation.

How far is the harbour and the Spiez boat station from Hotel Seaside?

The harbour and the docks are 7 minutes on foot.


Do you offer vegetarian, gluten-free or lactose-free options?

The kitchen team is happy to respond to special requests (e.g. vegetarian, lactose-free ...). Please inform us about your culinary needs at the time of booking.


Can I book the restaurant for an event?

There are various rooms available for your event in our conference centre. The Hotel Seaside event team is happy to advise you.

Worth knowing

Arrival & departure

Your room is ready for you on the day of arrival from 3 p.m. On the day of departure, we ask you to vacate your room for cleaning by 10.00 a.m. at the latest.


Regular bookings

Your booking is considered confirmed after receipt of your prepayment or valid credit card number (Visa, Mastercard). Hotel Seaside reserves the right to authorise your credit card prior to arrival. The booked room is kept free for you for the first night. If the room is not occupied or the cancellation conditions are not met, you will be charged for the first two nights.


Non-refundable bookings

Non-refundable bookings cannot be cancelled free of charge at any time. The booking amount is collected at 100% upon receipt of the booking, If it is not possible to debit the booking amount at this time, the booking is considered void. In case of no-show or early departure the full amount will be charged.


Baby- und Zustellbetten

Baby and extra beds

For children and babies in their parents' room, cots and extra beds are available on request. The maximum number of extra beds and baby cots allowed varies according to room type and availability.

  • 0 to 4 years: free of charge
  • 5 to 11 years: CHF 35.00 per child/night
  • Over 12 years: CHF 55.00 per child/night



You are welcome to visit the Hotel Seaside with your dog if it is house-trained, healthy, and well-behaved. A daily fee is charged for your pet's stay. Please understand that your four-legged companion is not allowed to enter the restaurant.


Cancellation conditions

Life doesn't always go according to plan. For this reason, at Hotel Seaside you can cancel your regular reservation free of charge up to two days before arrival (at 10.00 am). Unfortunately, in case of later cancellations or no-shows we have to charge you for the first two nights, unless the room can be sublet. For special room rates and discount offers as well as group reservations, special conditions may apply. Please note that cancellations must be made in writing (letter, fax, e-mail).

Hotel Seaside: House rules

The rules of the house apply without restriction to all hotel and overnight guests, subject to changes when necessary.


Cancellation or change (seminars, banquets, events)

A successful conference is very important to us. We gladly accept changes in the number of attendees up to 2 working days prior to the event without incurring any costs. Of course, we also consider any other later changes, however these must be charged.


Full cancellation of the booked services is free of charge until 70 days before the event. For later full cancellation we charge you 80% of the booked services.


Costs in case of cancellation of the complete event:

A complete cancellation of the booked services is free of charge up to 70 days ahead of the event. For a complete cancellation received later, you will be charged 80% of the planned turnover.
from 2 weeks before the event: 100 % of the booked arrangement are charged (plus 3 dl of the selected wines, 5 dl of mineral water per person plus any rental or hire charges. If the wines have not been defined in advance, we assume a dl price of CHF 7.50)

If the event is made up for within nine months with the same services and number of participants, you will receive compensation for 50% of the cancellation fee (in the event invoice for the replacement date).



These cancellation periods do not apply to banquets on a Saturday or on a public holiday. In these cases, we must insist on full cost coverage at all times when making a definitive reservation.


Cancellation date and insurance:

The date of cancellation is effective as of the date specified in the cancellation notice received by the hotel. Any cancellation insurance is the responsibility of the guest.


Cancellations in case of force majeure:

In the event of force majeure such as political unrest, strikes, catastrophes, etc., the hotel may cancel the reservation for security reasons at short notice without compensation.


Unclaimed consumption:

In the case of seminars, banquets, and events, there is no entitlement to reimbursement for services ordered but not used or for food / drinks not consumed. Likewise, there is no entitlement to a refund for unused services of a booked package or a booked flat rate.


Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

Only Swiss law is applicable to all contracts concluded with the hotel under these GTCs. All parties agree that Thun (Switzerland) shall be the exclusive place of jurisdiction.



The whole stay must be paid at the latest at check-out.



The hotel is obliged to observe the applicable data protection legislation in the handling and processing of all guest data and guest usage data. Guest data shall only be used to maximize operational security or in the interest of sales promotion, product design, crime prevention, collection of key economic data and statistics, and invoicing.

Guests use the internet within the hotel at their own risk. The hotel does not guarantee the safety, availability, and functionality of the hotel's own hardware and software. The provision of Wi-Fi at the hotel is not part of the room or seminar price – the hotel provides this service voluntarily and free of charge – accordingly, guests have no claim to a permanently functioning Internet supply.


Lost property

Lost property will only be forwarded on request at the risk and expense of the guest. Lost property will be kept for 90 days at the hotel and subsequently transferred to the lost property office of the municipality of Spiez if the value exceeds CHF 10.00. Items that are not collected from this office within one to two years after the date of discovery will be donated to the Foundation Fund for Emergency Social Aid of the Spiez municipality in accordance with article 27 of the municipal police regulations. All items with a value of less than CHF 10.00 will be disposed of after the 90-day period. Hotel Seaside is not liable in the event of loss or damage during return and storage.


Liability of the hotel

The hotel is only liable for damages in cases of intent or severe negligence. This explicitly also applies to damages resulting from the use of our IT infrastructure and internet access points. Liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law for items brought in by the guest. Claims must be made in writing to the hotel immediately, at the latest 3 days after departure; otherwise they are considered forfeited.

If the hotel provides a parking space, this does not constitute a contract of safe custody.

Wake-up orders are carried out by the hotel with the utmost care. Messages, post, and consignments of goods for guests are handled with care. The hotel shall be responsible for the delivery, storage and forwarding of such items upon request and payment. Any liability is excluded.


Liability of the customer

Customers (or the contractual partner of the hotel) are liable for damage or theft caused or committed by themselves or by minors entrusted to them, their pets, their employees, their event participants or commissioned third parties on the premises and in the rooms of Hotel Seaside and ABZ Spiez. The customer also undertakes to indemnify the hotel against claims of third parties arising from events or services carried out by the customer. The insurance of objects provided by the customer (e.g. technology, exhibits, samples, etc.) is the responsibility of the customer. The hotel may at any time demand proof of sufficient insurance coverage from the customer.


Cooking in the room

Cooking is forbidden in all rooms of Hotel Seaside. In case of non-observance, we charge cleaning costs of up to CHF 1000.00.


Non-smoking hotel

We want to guarantee a carefree stay for all our guests, that is why Hotel Seaside is a non-smoking establishment. Please note that smoking is only allowed on the balconies and terraces. In all hotel rooms public areas are strictly prohibited. In case of violation of this smoking ban, the hotel reserves the right to charge the cleaning costs of up to CHF 1000.00 or to charge them on the credit card indicated for the reservation.



Unless otherwise stated, all rates are quoted in Swiss Francs (CHF) and include the legally required Swiss VAT. The prices quoted are subject to price changes and can be seen in the booking confirmation. Prices and fees are subject to change at any time.


Price changes

In the following cases, the hotel may change the previously communicated or published prices without prior notice:

  • recently introduced or increased government charges (e.g. VAT, visitor's tax, etc.) according to the increase in charges
  • changes in exchange rate (converted according to the current rate of the hotel), or reference rates
  • explicit printing errors
  • adaptation to selling conditions



Refunds due to timely cancellations and confirmation by Hotel Seaside will be processed immediately. Please note that we can only make refunds on reservations made directly with Hotel Seaside. Refunds from tour operators, travel agencies, and online providers are the responsibility of the respective contract partner (third-party providers may have different contract terms).


Damage to property and liability

Hotel and overnight guests are liable for damage or excessive soiling which they cause intentionally or unintentionally to the object entrusted to them – as well as any resulting economic consequences. Compensation payments must be made immediately.


Advance payment or security deposit

The hotel is entitled to demand a reasonable advance payment or security deposit from the customer upon conclusion of the contract, for example, in the form of a credit card guarantee. The amount of advance payment and dates of payment may be agreed in written form in the contract. In case of advance payments or securities for package tours, the statutory provisions shall remain unaffected.

In justified cases, for example, if the customer is in arrears with payments or if the scope of the contract is extended, the hotel is entitled, even after conclusion of the contract and up to the beginning of the stay, to demand advance payment or provision of security as defined above or an increase in the advance payment or provision of security agreed in the contract up to the total amount agreed.

The hotel is further entitled to demand a reasonable advance payment or security deposit at the beginning of and during the stay for existing and future claims arising from the contract, provided such has not already been made from the customer. The following means of payment are accepted: Cash in CHF, Maestro, Postcard, Visa, and Mastercard. If payment by invoice is agreed, the entire invoice amount is due 20 days after the invoice date unless otherwise agreed. In case of late payment, each reminder costs CHF 20.00.

Parking spaces

Outside parking spaces and covered parking spaces, depending on availability, are available to guests for a fee. Hotel Seaside declines all liability for damage to vehicles.

The use of logos/pictures of the hotel in any form by the organiser or third parties always requires the prior written permission of the hotel. Copying, changing or making these contents available by third parties without the express written permission of the copyright holder is prohibited.

Use of the website is at your own risk. The owner of the website expressly accepts no liability for the correctness, current validity, completeness, and for any damage that is or could be caused by the use of the website. All offers are subject to change and non-binding. The contents of this website are excluded as evidence in legal disputes by third parties.


Data protection

Provided that there is the possibility to enter personal or business data (e-mail addresses, names, addresses etc.) on the website, the disclosure of this information by the user is expressly on a voluntary basis. The provision of sensitive data is at the user's own risk.
When processing guest data, Hotel Seaside AG and its employees are obliged to act in accordance with the new Data Protection Act (revDSG).

This disclaimer (= website and legal reservations) is subject exclusively to Swiss law. If sections or individual terms of this statement are not legal or correct, the content or validity of the other parts remain uninfluenced by this fact.


References and links

For direct or indirect references to external websites or their contents, the owner assumes no liability. In case of illegal or harmful content of references and links, the owner must be informed in writing so that the latter can delete or correct such content or references without liability for any damage that may arise or has arisen.

General terms and conditions of business

Cancellations, changes and no-show

Cancellations and changes to the reservation must be made in writing to the hotel and require written confirmation from the hotel. If this is not done, the agreed price of the contract must be paid even if the customer does not make use of contractual services. Cancellations/changes up to 10.00 a.m. two days before arrival are free of charge. In the event of late cancellation, the first and second night will be charged 100% to the credit card indicated unless the rooms can be sublet. If the customer does not show up on the day of arrival (no-show), the first and second night will be charged or debited 100% respectively to the credit card indicated, depending on the date of receipt of the customer’s notification.



For stays exceeding 3 months, the customer is obliged to register himself and any other co-residents with the Spiez residential services. The hotel may request proof of this at any time.


Applicable law

This contract is subject exclusively to Swiss law. The parties agree that the place of jurisdiction shall be Thun in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. Unless otherwise agreed, the provisions of the Swiss Code of Obligations (Art. 253ff. OR) shall apply. You accept the general terms and conditions with your signature on the contract/reservation confirmation or unilateral confirmation of a booking.


Use of hotel rooms

The rented rooms may only be used by the persons (including children) listed in the reservation confirmation. In the event of overbooking, the hotel may charge or debit a surcharge or terminate the provision of the rooms without notice. The rooms may only be used for accommodation purposes. Business of any kind is strictly prohibited in the rooms. The guest is not permitted to let rented hotel rooms to third parties for use.


Office hours

Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 to 5 p.m.


Car park

Insofar as the guest is provided with a paid parking space in a garage or in a hotel parking area, this does not constitute a safekeeping contract. The hotel cannot be held liable for loss of or damage to vehicles and any contents that are parked or manoeuvred in the garage.


Reservation policy

A reservation is considered confirmed as soon as the electronic reservation confirmation has been received by the guest and payment has been made or a valid credit card has been provided as a guarantee. The hotel reserves the right to charge an advance sum up to the amount of the total booking costs on the credit card indicated. By making a reservation, the guest confirms the accuracy of his/her personal details. If these conditions are not met, the hotel may cancel the reservation without notice.


Customer obligations

The rooms are to be used with care whereby consideration should also be given to neighbours. Hotel and overnight guests are liable for damage or excessive soiling which they cause intentionally or unintentionally to the property left to them. If the guest or a co-user of the room causes damage, this must be reported to the hotel immediately. Damaged or missing objects and equipment will be charged to the guest or debited from the credit card provided. The hotel reserves the right to charge for any damages detected subsequently or to charge the credit card specified for the reservation. The same applies if the rooms cannot be sublet due to unscheduled repair or cleaning work. Damage caused by such repairs or cleaning can be charged to the guest or to the credit card specified for the reservation.


Disturbances and operating restrictions

Disturbances, e.g. noise and/or operating restrictions, do not entitle the customer to any compensation or reimbursement. Rental accommodation (reallocation within a category): The customer is entitled to the right of residence in a room of the category shown on the contract for the period shown on the reservation confirmation. The customer does not acquire the right to the provision of specific rooms.


Conclusion of contract

The provisions of the Swiss Code of Obligations apply to the conclusion of the contract. A reservation is deemed to have been made when payment or a guarantee has been received by credit card. We reserve the right to cover cancellation costs directly with the credit card provided as guarantee.


Payments and prices

The customer is obliged to pay the hotel's valid or agreed prices for the room and the other services used. Furthermore, the hotel may change the prices if the customer subsequently requests changes in the number of booked rooms, the guests, or the duration/time of stay, provided the hotel agrees to such changes. Hotel invoices without a due date are payable within 20 days of receipt of the invoice without deduction. The hotel is entitled to call in claims at any time and to demand immediate payment. In the event of late payment, the hotel is entitled to charge interest on arrears. The hotel is entitled to demand advance payment upon conclusion of the contract or thereafter. The amount of the advance payment and the dates of payment may be agreed in writing in the contract.


Provision, handover & vacation of rooms

The customer does not acquire any claim to the provision of specific rooms. Booked rooms are available to the customer from 3 p.m. on the agreed day of arrival. The customer is not entitled to earlier availability. On the agreed day of departure, the rooms must be vacated and left by 11.00 a.m. at the latest. If the customer moves out at a later time, the hotel may charge 50% of the full accommodation price (list price) for the additional use of the room until 1.00 p.m., and 100% after 1.00 p.m., in addition to the loss incurred by the customer as a result.



The hotel offers FREE Internet access via Wi-Fi (wireless LAN) in all rooms and common areas. Our hardware meets modern standards and is designed for general use (web browsers, e-mail, etc.). Due to the increased use of this connection, especially in the evening, the hotel cannot guarantee a specific or constant download speed. The hotel is not responsible for the customer's hardware/software. The connection to the Internet is unprotected and is the sole responsibility of the customer. The Hotel declines all liability for any damage caused by spam, viruses, spyware, malware etc. The hotel does not guarantee the speed and services of the Internet provider.

Credit card: The hotel is entitled to request valid credit card data to guarantee all claims and to store such data for the duration of the stay. Furthermore, the hotel is entitled to make justified charges to the same credit card up to 2 days after the guest's departure (services, damages, missing inventory, etc.).
